Can you capture the essence of St Kilda?

The St Kilda Traders Group Inc is proud to present the Melbourne community the opportunity to enter in a photography prize inviting people of all ages to submit a winning photograph that best captures the essence of St Kilda.

The competition aims to nurture the artistic undercurrent of St Kilda and celebrate the eclectic diversity that underpins the suburb.

$7000 in cash prizes!

GENERAL INFORMATION:
SELECTION
All entries will be accepted for the exhibition.
You do not need to be a St Kilda resident to enter the competition.

NUMBER OF ENTRIES
Each artist may submit up to three photographs.

ENTRY FEES
1 work is $25, 2 works $50, 3 works $75.
Online transactions should be detailed with your name.

EXHIBITION DATES
"Stuck on St Kilda" 15th Oct - 21st Nov

DELIVERY
Works must arrive in print copy by the 27th August 2010. Your name, title of work, must be on the back of each work. If this is not done the work will not be displayed and your fee will not be refunded.

WINNERS
Winners announced at the Photo Prize Night:
The White Room ( Fitzroy St )
Wednesday 6th Oct 6.30pm - 8.30pm.

Winners will also be contacted via email / phone on 7th Oct.


HOW TO ENTER

NB: Both steps (1 - hardcopy & 2 - digital copy) must be submitted for successful entry.

STEP 1
Return sealed envelope including:
   • Entry form
   • Payment if by cheque or money order
   • 2 copies of image (within the sizes of 100mm x150mm) with your name, title of work
     and where it was taken, written on the back.

STEP 2
Email: photo@stkildaessence.com.au including:
   • Personal details: name, address, email and contact number
   • Attached images (within the sizes of 100mm x150mm) saved as title of work.

(Those who have no access to email resources or chose not to email may send in a digital copy on a CD (JPEG or TIFF 300dpi ).

Judges:
Lynton Crabb   Lynton Crabb
Balancing Crabb’s commercial work, his personal projects often involve an interest in social issues. He has exhibited in Australia and Korea for organisations that include The Reach Foundation and Alzheimer’s Australia.

A long time resident of St Kilda, Lynton is very excited to be involved in the St Kilda Essence photo prize.

Earl Carter   Earl Carter
World renowned Australian photographer Earl Carter has enjoyed a successful freelance photographic career for over 30 years. His passion for travel together with his versatile and adaptable approach to photography takes him all over the world.

In the UK, represented by Mark George, London his work for McCann Erickson, BBDO & J Walter Thompson has resulted in successful campaigns for companies including British Airways, Conran Design, Sainsburys, BBC Worldwide and the Irish Tourist Board.

In Europe, represented by Taverne Agency, Netherlands his editorial work is frequently published in magazines such as Elle Décor Italy, Decoration Magazine Germany and Casa Bella.

In the US the Martha Stewart Corporation, Conde Nast and American Express Publications commission the majority of his work.

In Australia represented by Coco Productions in Melbourne his busy work schedule involves the photography for numerous corporations that include Commonwealth and ANZ Banks, Rio Tinto, hotels throughout Asia and a variety of cookbooks for both local and international chefs such as Rick Stein, Neil Perry and David Thompson.
